if you select sparse disk image, and then when inputting the password for the first time leave 'remember password in keychain' unchecked, then you're always asked for your password.
there are also some appalling resellers. anyone in cork, ireland should avoid ATMac on Penrose Wharf if they want to go via a reseller rather than directly through Apple. Walking into their store is like walking into 1996. Dust everywhere, crappy peripherals, out of date iPods and Macs on display, rude staff who don't know what they're talking about and poor service.
On the other hand, if you deal with Stream Solutions near the Sarsfield Roundabout, you're in good hands. Those guys are gents, through and through, and probably the most knowledgeable resellers I've come across yet.
I don't want to be a pain in the ass, but the plural of 'virus' is 'viruses'. Virus is a neuter noun, and as such, does not take the -i plural ending. 'Viri' is the plural of 'vir' ('man'), and 'virii' isn't a word, because there's no singular word called 'virius'. Here endeth the lesson.
(i know that this doesn't count as a post, but why is the american flag showing next to cork, ireland? c'mon spinmatters, you can do better than that! it works at applematters!)
I use exposé about once every five minutes - i literally feel claustrophobic without it!
I can't wait for leopard, especially a nice, new, unified tabbed finder. C'moooon, Steve!
SEPTA: leopard will definitely be universal, for PowerPC and Intel Macs. There are literally millions of PowerPC Macs out there, and there's no way Apple would lose the chance to sell us an upgrade! I have my doubts that the G3 will be supported though: neither iLife '06 nor iWork '06 support the G3, so my bet is that Leopard will support the G4, the G5, the Core Solo and the Core Duo.
i love iwork, to the extent that i deleted office from my mac because of it. (i use neooffice on the rare occasions that i need to work with spreadsheets). however, having a built in spreadsheet app would definitely be cool.
all this said, no, i don't think any iwork spreadsheet app will cause any great revolution in mac sales - office is too entrenched, particularly the collaboration aspects of it.
