iBook (14.1 LCD)

Introduced: October 2001
Terminated: May 2002

Description

Running a G3 processor at 600Mhz, the iBook (14.1” LCD) was almost identical to the newly designed iBook introduced earlier in the year.  It had a 20 or 30Gb hard drive.  It was available with a tray loading 8x 8x 8x 24x DVD/CD-RW Combo drive.  It had 128Mb of RAM expandable to 640Mb, a VGA out, stereo speakers and a larger 14.1” TFT XGA screen.

History

Virtually identical to the redesigned white polycarbonate iBook released in May, the iBook (14.1” LCD) sported a larger screen and some improved specifications.  At $1799, it was more expensive than the smaller model, but it was cheaper than the professional level PowerBooks.
